Michael Musto Says Miley Cyrus is a Twerker and Appropriater

Yesterday, New York Fashion Week officially endorsed ravewear when Jeremy Scott debuted Miley Cyrus’s candy-colored creations on his runway.

Later on at The Blonds runway show — they designed Miley’s tour outfits — the bindi-bedazzled head of Michael Musto caught our eye, so we hit him up for his read on the whole thing. On the difference between cultural appropriation and honoring a culture, he was on point with a quick law school lesson. “It’s a very thin line between homage and ripoff, and it’s really a legal difference. If a judge decides that it was a homage, then it was a homage.”

When asked if Miley Cyrus was a jewelry designer, he responded promptly. “No. She’s a twerker, and an appropriater.”

How is he so sure? “She licked my butt.”

Case dismissed.

But we also approached jury member and T.V. personality Robert Verdi for his thoughts on the evidence.

I don’t get that! I don’t get any of that, but what’s clear… Molly. Molly! [laughing at the accidental EDM reference.] Her too! Both of them! Miley wants to be in the fashion business. She loves something about it whether it’s the attention, whether it’s the perks, whether it’s the ability to create and express yourself in that dimension, she loves it and it’s clear. And the industry loves her! It’s obvious that the fashion community has fallen in love with her, so she’s here for awhile.

Appropriation, hair dolls, and ready-to-wear vibrator bongs. Get used it.
