Wearing Makeup to the Gym vs. Arriving Fresh-Faced

Let’s talk about makeup at the gym. Whether you’re wearing heavy makeup, light makeup or no makeup at all, here are some pros and cons.

 

MAKEUP AT THE GYM
+Pro: Mascara/liner will define those eyes, and contouring will define your face shape
-Con: Makeup can get into your eyes when you sweat
+Pro: If your face gets red, a color-correcting product may help prevent this if only just a little
-Con: Makeup can slip off your face when you sweat

 

NO MAKEUP AT THE GYM
+Pro: You don’t have to worry about transferring your filled-in brows from your face to your Pilates mat, or rubbing them off when you wipe sweat from your brow

 

There really are no cons for going to the gym fresh-faced. You may think that you don’t look “good” without makeup on, but you DO.

You exercise so your body can stay active. It’s about working on yourself.

If makeup helps boost your self-confidence and self-esteem at the gym, wear it! If it gets in your way, don’t worry about it.

I’ve done both and I’ll continue to do both. Some days, I’d like a little mascara to open up my eyes in a gentle yoga class. Other days, I don’t want eyeliner dripping into my eyeballs.

You’ll perform at your best when you feel your best inside and out.
