River Island’s Curvy Clothing Line Is Great As Long As You’re Not Tall

It’s a lose-lose situation in the world of curvy girl clothing collaborations. No, all brands can’t meet the high standards of brands we love like Beth Ditto. And even when they are collections that we really like (aka RACHEL Rachel Roy), there’s always the question of what will be in stores versus online.

River Island’s new curvy girl friendly line dropped today, and it has its good moments—lots of prints, trendy lace up tops and sexy faux leather leggings. But the major drawback? It’s definitely all things made for a curvy girl who is 5 foot 3 inches and under. All of the hemlines of the summer dresses are super short—so short that no tall girl would even want to bend down in them. And the pants are all cropped slightly above ankle length, which is great until they become highwater and give you a fupa.

Another major issue is the fact that the collection stops at a size 24 in UK sizing, which means that you have to size up two sizes from American sizing for it to match the fit you’re used to. Clearly still too much to ask to get a clothing line in stores, with flexible sizing, that’s actually cute. We’ll be here waiting.
