And you won’t be in style if you don’t have this pin during Fashion Week.
This past Monday, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced a new partnership with Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) in hopes to raise awareness and show support for the services that the nonprofit organization provides.
This collaboration arrives just in time for New York Fashion Week. The two organizations, CFDA and PPFA, and Conde Nast’s creative group, designed hot pink pins that read “Fashion Stands with Planned Parenthood,” and it is expected that everyone at New York Fashion Week will be wearing them.
These pins have been distributed to all designers that are participating in New York Fashion Week, as well as public relations agencies, modeling agencies, creative agencies, fashion week locations, industry influencers, and press attending upcoming events and shows.
The pin will be accompanied by a card that explains the actions people can take to get more involved. The CFDA is encouraging recipients of the pin to post a picture, or a message with the trending hashtag, #IStandwithPP to create more awareness of their support.
Steven Kolb, President, and CEO of the CFDA said supporting Planned Parenthood is a “civic responsibility”, and “defunding planned parenthood will impact millions of Americans.” Kolb said in an interview that “We’re an industry of creative people, and creative people have very big hearts and have always reacted and responded to issues and moments that are important. Fashion is powerful in that it touches people every single day. To be able to use Fashion Week or use the industry to extend a message beyond what is the next trend or item to wear, but to put some substance behind it—that’s very powerful”
Kolb also pointed out that the CFDA has had a long-standing commitment to health issues that matter to its community and customers such as breast cancer and HIV/AIDS.
We were so excited about Fashion Week, to begin with, but this partnership that hits home to so many women around the United States has exceeded our expectations and validates the love we have for the fashion industry! We can’t wait to see what creative things fashion designers and models do with this pin during New York Fashion Week!
