Historically, when I thought of charcoal, I thought of this black thing, that easily stained, felt chalky and helped start a fire. And that’s pretty much what it is, charcoal is a lightweight form of black residue made of carbon and ash and usually lacks oxygen. It’s been used for art, medicine, and fuel. I never really thought of charcoal being something necessarily good, or useful to my personal life. My preconceived notions are slowly disappearing as I am beginning to see charcoal incorporated into, literally EVERYTHING!
Charcoal is good and charcoal is pure, so that means it must be good for you, right? Right. Charcoal has so many beneficial uses that help our bodies so much. Charcoal can benefit you both inside and out, making you beautiful.
Teeth Whitening
The black, chalky, grainy texture of Charcoal can actually help whiten and smooth your teeth. Charcoal helps brighten teeth by changing the PH balance in the mouth, also helping prevent cavities, bad breath, and gum disease. Just wet a toothbrush and dip it into powdered charcoal and brush your teeth as normal. That blackness will turn white in no time!
Skin Cleanser
Charcoal can help treat body odor and acne, as well as relieving itchy insect bites. Mix the charcoal with water, oil, or Aloe Vera gel, and apply to affected areas. The charcoal binds with toxins and dirt that contribute to these skin issues and help immediately relieve blemishes that may cause you some added stress.
Bloating and Gas Alleviation
Charcoal’s biochemical makeup helps bind up the gas causing byproducts in foods that usually cause issues. By taking a little bit of charcoal before you eat some typical gas-causing meals, it will dramatically help bloating and any issues that may make you regret eating that delicious meal.
Hangover Cure
Although charcoal cannot absorb alcohol, it can help absorb other toxins that contribute to that horrible morning after. Alcohol is usually mixed with sweeteners and other chemicals and then consumed. By taking a little charcoal with your alcoholic beverage, it will significantly lower the blood alcohol content in your body, simultaneously helping you out for the following morning.
Digestive Cleanse
Charcoal helps your digestive tract in so many ways. It helps remove toxins that cause allergic reactions, oxidative damage, and a poor immune system. This also leads to helping reduce joint pain. Pesticides and other environmental factors that are present in the food we eat, and water we drink, increase the toxins in our body. Charcoal chemically reacts to these toxins and effectively cleanses the digestive tract. Use charcoal in a cleanse form, mixing it with water and taking it 90 minutes before each meal for two days.
Don’t be afraid of charcoal, embrace it! Charcoal is a fad that can do very little harm. It is so natural and has so many wonderful properties that will help nourish and detox your mind, body, and soul.
