Dasha Polanco’s had a love/hate relationship with fashion for quite sometime now. She talked about in a recent interview with Vogue and we’ve seen her on red carpets continue to ask for more designers to cater to women of all sizes.
All of that made it even sweeter to see Dasha front row at New York Fashion Week, wearing a floor-length duster embellished coat that paid homage to her heritage and a bodysuit. She told Vanity Fair, ““[The Blonds] thought that it would go great with my personality, how I like to embrace who I am, being a Latina. I love Selena [Quintanilla], so I’m channeling her up here,” she said, motioning to her chin-length bob, “[and] with the nails, just a modern type of Selena.”
And my personal favorite quote, in which she talks about the decision to wear a bodysuit underneath the coat instead of other clothing, ““[Stylist] Darius Baptist thought that I should wear a bodysuit and just show my thighs, since I’m so self-conscious about them. But fuck it, this is me, this is who I am, this is real. I was made this way. There’s people that are paying for this.” I mean honestly, is there anyone else as badass as Dasha?
