We’re all totally inundated with stories about how to enhance or create our own versions of beauty, but sometimes we just need a reminder that real beauty comes from within. Enter Reshma Qureshi to give us a reality check.

Qureshi’s brother was harassing his sisters and poured acid over Reshma’s face and her sister’s hands. Acid attack victims are mostly women who have in some way asserted authority when a man didn’t want them to, turned down a sexual advance, or reject a proposal of marriage. Basically, they’re being harmed because they didn’t do what a man wanted them to do. Sick.

Despite being an amazing person, the BBC spotlighted her in a video because she has since become a prominent beauty blogger who has been invited to model at New York Fashion Week. Talk about magical.
