Let’s be clear, Teyana Taylor shut DOWN the VMAs. Lindsay might think that Beyoncé stole the show, but Teyana took the cake for me. Despite how incredibly fabulous she looked, I’m not sure why people are taking this moment to turn slim women against curvy women instead of just celebrating her for her.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen Teyana Taylor’s rock hard, post-baby body in all it’s glory via Kanye West’s video for “Fade.” If you’ve somehow missed it, see the video below.
Now, we are the first ones to say yas queen. Teyana has been overly talented and underrated for a LONG time. We are happy to see women, especially women who are not the typical Vogue standard of beauty receive their time. Hers has been delayed for way too long.
However, wtheck is up with everyone using this as a time to shame curvy women instead of just uplifting Teyana?!
The moment this came out, the Internet started in on the memes like these:

This is why we can’t have nice things. Both of those women have curves for days, and both of them are beautiful. Their bodies are DIFFERENT and that’s okay. Not only is it okay, it’s expected…because we’re all different. Just in case people didn’t notice.
Is Teyana goals? Heck yeah she is, if that body is attainable, healthy, and most importantly, the one YOU want.
So, if Teyana is inspiring you to get in the gym, get those squats girl. And if you are completely happy with the one you have, insert praise hands emoji.
Of course, slim is always in, but real women should be celebrated no matter what they look like. You and Teyana included.
