In a night full of glitz and glamour (Rihanna’s amazing purple lip, anyone?), one beautiful lady decided to go completely makeup-free. Alicia Keys set a different standard on Sunday evening, and we are here for it 100%.
Alicia sang and presented on camera without makeup. Can we just take a second to recognize how HUGE that is?! She is totally genetically #blessed, but her statement of not wearing makeup is not one that we can ignore. Alicia was one of the first ladies we noticed taking a hold of the no makeup trend, but it’s huge that she did this at the VMAs.
In a world where women often feel that they have to put on makeup, to disregard your blush brush on the night of an award show is monumental. Keys has been trying to promote a healthy self image, and she didn’t let up on a night where she knew a million cameras would be in her face.
And she was glowing.
