Hair loss is a scary yet real issue.
Columbia University researcher, Angela Christiano, is trying to tackle hair loss with her two startups.
One of them is Vixen Pharmaceuticals, where they worked on developing a hair loss drug.
The other is called Rapunzel, which focuses on hair transplant surgery.
Christiano, who has a hair-loss condition called alopecia areata, wasn’t satisfied with the treatments out there. If you’re not satisfied with what’s on the market currently, why not create your own solutions?
It’s not every day that you hear about someone wanting to grow a full head of hair in a lab, but that’s exactly what Christiano wants to do. She’s trying to turn scalp stem cells into hair follicles, which is challenging.
Men and women of all ages all over the world suffer from hair loss, and I think it’s pretty badass that Christiano is working on creating solutions to battle hair-loss conditions.
