Fashion blogger and stylist Liz Black decided to take her love of fashion, and mock it’s outdated thinking toward sizing by posing with sample size to clothing, to show off just how tiny the samples on the runway are. In speaking with Yahoo Style Black of The You Do Do Magazine Spread she said, “I’ve always been shocked when I’ve seen those runway samples up close because these sample sizes are so different from my clothing size. I knew that showing these sample-size clothes on my body would give a great visual to help readers understand what I’ve been experiencing all these years.”
And though we’ve covered fashion’s sizing troubles time and time again, there’s no debating the fact that runway samples have gotten dramatically small over the years. And to prove just how tiny they’ve gotten, Black collaborated with non-profit YDY to show how sample-sized gowns would fit against her body. And one thing that’s consistently clear in light of Dasha Polanco and Leslie Jones is the fact that the industry thrives on exclusivity–and keeping women out who don’t fit into samples sizes is only the beginning of the problem.
