Do you ever wonder where your makeup comes from? Specifically, your glittery makeup?
What makes glittery makeup sparkle, anyway?
Mica. It’s a mineral that adds a shimmery effect to makeup products like blush, eye shadow and lipstick.
India is a country that produces it, and that’s where some cosmetics companies get their mica. It’s also a country where child labor still exists, and where children work in mica mines.
Of course, we hope that the glittery products we use weren’t made with child labor, but sometimes you just really don’t know until you do your research. So, we’ll be doing a follow-up, but let us know if you find anything in your own investigation.
We cannot support brands that knowingly endangers children.
