It’s a good start to the week when we see Gabi Fresh, Valerie Sagun, Jes Baker, Mary Lambert and Ashley Nell Tipton in an ad together—and even better when it’s for JCPenney’s new curve line, called Here I Am.
JCPenney is making real strides to become part of the curve market—and it’s about time that more mass market brands got on board. Curvy women should be able to access affordable and fashionable clothing no matter their budget and in the mall just like everyone else. And ads like this prove that once you start including women that are representative of what culture and society actually looks like, it’s easy for people to flock and want to spend their coins.
The ad touches on body positivity, with Lambert admitting, “You can’t love your body for what it turns into,” and Jes Baker answering the question, “would my life be better if I were thinner? No—but it would be better if I wasn’t treated so poorly because I’m not.” And the best part? All of the women strutting their stuff in cute loves, loving life, wearing trends we’ve been begging for retailers to make in extended sizing. Honestly there’s nothing we don’t like about this ad. Watch it below and tell us about your favorite part and what you want to buy.
