Vogue has been releasing a lot trend videos featuring runway models—it’s a way for them to show off their connections with all the top models and designers, while boasting their knowledge of the latest runway trends. And we have to give it to them—the videos are pretty cool, and they are the only publication on this planet that can book 15 top models in runway looks for a five minute video.

Untitled

The video features top models like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lily Aldridge, Imaan Hammam, and the only curvy girl model that Conde Nast apparently knows: Ashley Graham. Don’t get me wrong–we love Ashley Graham (obviously) and she is making the case to be the first curvy girl model to build a fashion empire. However, Conde and mainstream media really needs to broaden their horizons on the curvy girl model market. At this point Ashley has been on Maxim, Sports Illustrated, Glamour’s curvy girl magazine, and was the only curvy girl in the Love Calendar; while it’s great press and definitely a step in the right direction it gives off the vibe that publications still haven’t done their research.

On the other hand it is nice to see a curvy girl included at all, so I guess we will count our blessings. But can I just note that homegirl doesn’t even get that much camera time? But I guess we’ll take what we can get for now. Is the world and the modeling industry ready to embrace more curvy girl models? jury’s still out. Watch the video below to see for yourself.
