Updating your wardrobe come spring time can be an interesting challenge—the sweater and jeans routine that you can’t seem to get out it is hard to break, and when it starts to get warmer it’s like what tops should I wear? Is it warm enough without a coat? Do my dark jeans still look good? Not to worry because these questions will be answered.
Denim is a universal staple, and it’s really the only thing in your closet that will still look cute with fun crop tops, off the shoulder numbers, and even on chilly nights you can wear it with a bomber jacket to make it feel fresh. You don’t exactly have rethink all the denim you already have since there are ways to mix things up small adjustments that we think can make a major difference. Scroll down to see 5 of our favorite style bloggers demonstrate easy ways to rethink spring denim.
The Denim Jumpsuit
I know what you’re thinking—why would I ever wear a denim onesie? Well for starters it’s super comfortable (I just bought one for myself and my boyfriend says I look like a sexy mechanic) and you can really make it as simple or fun as you want. Margie has paired her jumpsuit with a bright cap, heels and a chambray shirt at the waist, but you could make it sporty with sneakers too.
Eloquii Jumpsuit, $100 at Eloquii, Dune London Heels, $134 at ASOS, Torrid Denim Skirt, $45 at Torrid
The Denim Crop Top
There’s plenty of bright, neon and plain colored crop tops, but we really like this denim one. Chante has paired her with army pants and black sunglasses for contrast and we like the pairing. You could also wear it with plain colored pants on the bottom for a little pop.
Guess Crop Top, $59 at Lord & Taylor, Cartonnier Pants, $108 at Anthropologie, Prada Sunglasses, $259 at The Outnet
The Remixed Canadian Tuxedo
You’re probably already wearing a denim top with jeans, but have you tried wearing a light denim top with dark denim on the bottom? Probably not. We like Nadia’s carefree, natural vibe with a breezy chambray top and ripped jeans.
Maison Jules Top, $35 at Macy’s, Levi Jeans, $50 at Macy’s
The Denim Patches
Patches are a lot of fun and definitely mix up your plain old average jean. Paloma always has a bit of vintage inserted in her style, like the oversize jean jacket, with denim patches underneath and jeans that would seem like a lot to put together but looks so much cooler than just a denim jacket and jeans.
Alice & You Denim Patchwork Shirt, $61 at ASOS CURVE, INC Jeans, $38 at Macy’s, Topshop Jacket, $85 at Topshop
The Ankle Cropped Denim
Ankle cropped denim has been a huge trend on the runway, and pretty much every denim designer has copied Rachel Comey’s famous dip-dyed crop jeans. We recommend shopping for jeans that have a high-waist and cuffed ankles, so you can show off all those cute tops and sandals you plan on wearing this summer.
Eloquii Boyfriend Jeans, $90 at Eloquii, Simple Be Stripe Shirt, $63 at Simply Be, Topshop Bomber, $115 at Topshop
