Menswear retailer, Jacamo, thinks that Barbie isn’t the only inanimate object that needed a body positive makeover. The men’s brand, that offers clothing for a variety of sizes, has actually started a campaign to get the Academy to change the infamous Oscar trophy so that it looks more like the average guy across the pond.
A recent study commissioned by Jacamo found that one out of ten men think actors affect their confidence. So the retailer wants the statue to reflect the average British man, which is 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a 37 inch waist and a 42 inch chest. Instead of the current Oscar, whose real life dimensions are 6 feet tall with a 33 inch waist, essentially unattainable.
Well, men need body positivity too and this is perhaps a more tasteful way than dad-bod Ken.
