There’s going to be a movie about last year’s Met Gala so that you can see behind the scenes of the totally culturally sensitive time that was last May 2015.
Anyway, before this fairytale night actually happened, planning it all from Rihsus’s budget to the decor was obviously a BFD. And luckily Anna Wintour was there to save the affair from looking anything like your local takeout joint. In this trailer, which touches on the possibility of interpreting it all as racist and features loads of stuff about the blend of art and commerce, the best line of the whole jam comes from Wintour, obviously.
When going over the decor schemes, she says: “This is just going to look like a Chinese restaurant.” And it didn’t. To use her words, ‘What more can you ask for from art?’ Absolutely nothing, Anna. Bonus: see Karl Lagerfeld sit backwards in a chair.
Anyway, the movie looks good, but we’d gladly watch Rihanna’s entrance to the tune of Cry of the Valkyries for an hour or two.
