Mariah Carey, goddess among us, hit the UNICEF ball last night looking positively stunning, but in this very questionable gown. Let’s examine one thing at a time.

The Top: It’s not that we don’t enjoy a bustier that’s leather, but we don’t enjoy how this one feels a bit, beneath the dress code? Even though we like the idea that you can wear leather formalwear to a ball, we would have gone with something much less Halloween looking. And that brings us to the quizzical nature of the bottom half of this getup.
The Skirt: This blue was an odd choice and the skirt also kinda photographed like cotton athleisure. It looks like someone Googled Delia’s bedazzled maxi skirt from the ’90s and sewed it to something fetish because that’s all the rage. Whoever made this got their trendlets mixed up. She looks 25% dominatrix and 75% preteen, and we’re concerned this contrasting dress is far too off for her.
The Bling: This laser cut trim on the bottom half of this cheapens everything.
More Bling: Diamond earrings, diamond necklace, diamond bracelet. Diva gonna diva, so no surprise there.
Even More Bling: Of course she’s wearing her sparkler heels. What, you didn’t watch her MTV Cribs episode? Girl is never not walking on glitter.
The Beauty: Makeup gets an A+ for glowiness. Hair, which appears to be newly dyed, could have used some more volume.
