Dear face, please meet palm because this is the biggest facepalm to come our way in a hot minute. On yesterday’s segment of The View, the ladies at the table took a moment to discuss the controversial Kylie Jenner Interview cover that we’ve already given you our thoughts on. (It’s messed up, we think.)
Insightful co-host Michelle Collins offered up her very tone-deaf opinion on the matter. She thinks people are only mad because Kylie’s the Jenner sister in a gold wheelchair, and she “triggers” people. If it were the other half of the K-Jenner unit though? Now that would be a totally different story because she’s “tall, stunning, gorgeous.” Perfect.
Collins said:
“There’s just something with Kylie… if it had been Kendall… Kendall’s a real model. Kendall is tall, stunning, gorgeous. I think they would have almost let it slide because that’s like her job.”
So apparently it’s totally cool to appropriate people with disabilities when you’re tall, pretty, and have a modeling contract and people get it. Noted. We’re not sure if Collins pulled a Kathie Lee and Hoda and had a chilled white wine in that coffee cup, but it was pretty bold of her to 1. insinuate that Kylie is less attractive than her sister and 2. decide that sitting in a blinged out wheelchair because you’re a hot model makes it okay and backlash-proof.
Luckily Raven-Symoné was the voice of reason in this one friendly chat and confirmed that, no, it would be offensive any way you spin it and the Jenners have no place sitting in a wheelchair.
