I know it’s still winter and with temperatures this low (at least in New York), it’s hard to have a sunny disposition and make yourself think about anything else except how cold you are. But, hey, we need to snap out of it, because it’s never too early to start planning your next vacation. Or if the budget and circumstances don’t allow – at least maybe dream about beautiful far away beaches that we’re going to visit sometime in the unforeseen future? Being an optimist is important and a girl can dream, right?
So here are our top five beautiful, Instagrammable beaches that are going to give you a major wanderlust.
Sveti Stefan, Montenegro
Envision yourself – stretched out on your towel, sipping on your espresso and…this view. Sveti Stefan (St. Stephen) is a stunning peninsula and beach with an island village and a very posh resort. You can choose to either stay at the resort or get a nearby Airbnb and take a scenic drive to this jaw-droppingly beautiful medieval village.
Horseshoe Bay, Bermuda
The most popular beach in Bermuda and for a good reason. Look at these Insta-perfect hues! If you’re a sporty type, you can participate in a beach volleyball competition (or numerous other activities) or you can even consider celebrating your next New Years at this beach. They say that the locals throw one hell of a party. (In a good way.)
Plage de la Côte des Basques, Biarritz, Aquitaine (France)
A surfer favorite located on France’s Basque coast. This beach stretches out for miles and miles, which is hard to see in this particular photo, but trust us on this one. This beautiful beach has been mentioned in Ernest Hemingway’s novel, The Sun Also Rises. No wonder he was in love with it, because we’re too.
Navagio, Greece
Navagio Beach or the “Shipwreck Beach” is actually an exposed cove, often referred to as the “Smuggler’s Cove” on the coast of Zakynthos. It can only be accessed by a boat, which makes it a perfect little spot if you feel the need to really get away and zone out. At least for a day.
Lençóis Maranhenses, Maranhão (Brazil)
No – your eyesight is fine, it’s not a mirage. This is a national park located in Maranhão state, northeastern Brazil. It’s desert-like, but with white sand dunes and seasonal rainwater lagoons. And yes – these are mostly inland. Mind-blowing, right?
