No longer are fishnet stockings considered trashy or out dated. They have been upgraded in a whole new way. Kylie Jenner helped make the fishnet tight trend more popular by wearing them higher up on the waist under distressed light wash denim jeans. During fashion week in the fall, we spotted them on girls in dresses and skirts and even opened toes shoes. Although, I have to say we probably wouldn’t go that far.
There are however some key points to getting this trend right. It starts with the size of the fishnets. They are a bit bigger than the typical smaller hole styles. Look for a wider hole with a higher waistband. Then you must wear them in black, which looks best. Black pair better with almost any pair of clothing. If you are super daring you can try a white pair, but I say start with black.

One of our favorite youtube girls to watch, Amber Scholls shows us exactly how to DIY the look if you don’t want to wear a full-length pair with jeans. It is pretty basic but great if you can’t find the oversized hole style fishnets. She styles them more like lingerie which we are totally into if you want to change up the look a bit.
If you really want to seriously take it up a notch you can crystalize your fishnets, shown in this cool video. We would wear these with a midi length skirt to be more demure for work. On the weekend we might get a little more crazy and give these a try with an edgy leather skirt or a distressed black denim skirt.
