I Mixed Charcoal Into My Shampoo And Here’s What Happened

It’s time for me to be brutally honest. As much as I hate to admit it (and I hate even more to tell people), I suffer from scalp psoriasis. Being a part-time model with full-time NYC hustle, I’m sure you can imagine how this cramps my style to say the very least. I’m always wondering things like “Will the rashy, red patches show up in TV segments and photoshoots? If I have to wear black, will it embarrassingly, be covered in flakes? Will my hair look greasy and dirty because of my outbreak? Maybe today I can hide it with a hat?”

My scalp psoriasis has been a source of embarrassment for me since college. Back then, it was both persistent and difficult to manage. It brought me to tears more times than I can count and even caused my hair to thin out wherever the most stubborn of patches decided to appear. Everything I tried never seemed to help. That is, until I got a little older and tried to cure my scalp psoriasis naturally.

Nowadays, I’ve tamed my scalp psoriasis considerably, at least to the point that my outbreaks are minor. I accomplished this with a combination of both changing my diet and avoiding chemically-based hair products. Luckily, I’ve learned that what few outbreaks I now have, tend to occur in the dryness of winter and whenever I’m under high amounts of stress. One treatment I’ve found helps substantially is mixing charcoal in with my shampoo. I’ve used it a handful of times and here’s what I’ve found from my experience:

It tones my hair color

It minimizes flaking… A LOT!

It visibly reduces redness

It serves as a hair detox
