I’m all for ladies who have curvy bodies naturally, but don’t go wearing a waist trainer to try to get that hourglass figure if you don’t already have one. Just saying, your body is perfectly wonderful the way that it is.

However, I get it. The hourglass figure is something you want to attain. We’ve been conditioned to want one. I want one, too. But I’m not about to “train” my waist to look that way. There are so many reasons why you shouldn’t wear a waist trainer.

-Your waist doesn’t need training
What are you training it to do? Just get slimmer? If you’re training it for a marathon, go out and run. But you’re wearing a contraption on your torso to turn your body into an hourglass shape. Have you ever thought about how this could be unhealthy?

-Stop moving your ribs and organs
Waist trainers are like modern corsets. They can push your ribs closer together and squeeze your organs. I’m sorry, how does that sound safe and healthy? It doesn’t, because it’s not.

-Shapewear is only somewhat different
Shapewear is a compression garment you wear under your clothing for a more smooth look. I get that because everything just looks tucked in and fat rolls can be smoothed out if that’s the look you’re going for. But please do yourself a favor and don’t wear shapewear daily and for long hours at a time. Shapewear holds everything in when sometimes your body just needs to breathe.

-We all have fat
Moreover, we all have fat. Fat is OK. Fat is good. Fat is necessary to survive. So why are you trying to hide it so badly? I know I have back fat and love handles and fat rolls. I’ve tried to hide them all for years, and once I finally accepted that exercising and eating more nutritious food was the healthiest way to get rid of that if I wanted to, I understood it all. I understood that waist trainers and shapewear aren’t going to make me happy in the long run. Maybe they’re fun for just one night out, but not 24/7.

-Don’t do it because the celebrities are doing it

I’m really obsessed with waist training! Thank you @premadonna87 for my new waist shapers! #whatsawaist

There are so many celebrities out there who use waist trainers. You won’t become the next member of the Kardashian krew if you start wearing one. Your waist may not even look like Kim’s if you start wearing one. Everyone’s body functions differently.

Don’t get waisted.
