Loving Your Body is Also Being Comfortable Naked

You may never realize how uncomfortable you are with your naked self until you do three things:

  1. Sleep naked
  2. Let someone see you naked
  3. Look at yourself naked in the mirror

Sleeping naked may not feel comfortable if you’re used to sleeping in clothing. There are so many stories out there about how sleeping naked is good for your body. Try it at least once before you make a decision about whether you love or hate it. It can, in the oddest way, make you realize how you may not know your body like you thought you did. It can be a lot more comfortable (or uncomfortable). And it can make you feel empowered.

Letting someone see you naked is a scary thing. You’re letting someone possibly judge you. You’re letting them see all your curves and unique things that make you you. It can make you more confident or more vulnerable. You may be comfortable with it or absolutely hate it. You might end up covering yourself with your arms and hands, or let someone see all of you as you are. The truth is, if you’re self-conscious about your body, you’re probably over-thinking it all in. Try to just be in that moment. Relax.

If you’ve never looked at yourself naked in the mirror before, you might want to try. Or if you haven’t done so in a while, take a peek. Your body might have changed since the last time you’ve seen it. Do you like what you see? Do you feel strong? Confident? No matter what emotions you feel, you may want to take a look because sometimes we don’t know how little we know about ourselves.

The more comfortable you are with your naked body, the more comfortable you will be in your clothed body. There’s something raw and beautiful about the skin you’re in.
