So we are a little crazy about capsule collections with high end designers, but what curvy woman wouldn’t be? It’s a chance to actually get in on runway designs that actually fit for a change. So when we found out about Rachel Antonoff’s fun and quirky designs partnered with Gwynnie Bee, it was the best thing that could happen to us on a slow Friday.
Gwynnie Bee has collaborated with tons of designers but Antonoff is definitely the one with the most ‘fashion cred’ if you know what I mean. In an interview with Refinery29, Gwynnie Bee CEO*, Christine Hunsicker stated, “The big thing for us is this is really all about bringing great content and original product from high-quality designers into the plus-size space…Because I think that’s what our members really want.” Antonoff added herself, “I’m a fan of Gwynnie Bee, but in general, my approach to fashion has always been that it should be fun, it should be inclusive, and your clothing should be more of an accessory for an adventure or a good time than something that’s stressful.”
And the collection really shows that Antonoff cares—it has all the same kitschy factors that she normally uses. You see the fruits, and bright colors, and animal prints that are in her runway collection in this capsule with Gwynnie Bee, proving that curve fashion doesn’t need to be any different. And while the collection is only seven pieces out on June 19th, we love every single item and are sure you will too.
