Summertime brings about a lot of things that I love—warm weather, leaving the office early for summer Fridays, and you can finally bring out all those cute summer tops you’ve been dying to wear. But the warm weather also brings a lot of unwelcome editorials about how to pull of trends as a curvy girl because, surprise! You have thighs and curves and butt so it must be so extremely hard for you to figure out how to wear normal summer attire like shorts and crop tops.
Fortunately for you, I don’t find it hard to pull off any summer trend—it’s more so about finding brands that have the right fabrics and fit that you prefer. Designers that keep curve women in mind are obviously going to create pieces that work for a wider range of body types, and it’s all about finding those designers and when you find a favorite, buy a second pair because you don’t want to regret not having a backup. I repeat buy a second pair the minute you realize you love them! I have made this mistake too many times in my life to keep count.
And don’t be afraid to try different washes and lengths—though people may try to convince you that you don’t want your thighs to appear bigger or look a certain way, try on some ripped styles, lighter washes and pairs with streaking. It’s your body and you have the divine right to look just as fabulous as you please. Scroll down for five of my personal favorite pairs.
Light denim jeans cropped above the knee are usually categorized as a ‘don’t’ for curve women on fashion sites, so wear these just to make the haters mad. They’re high-waisted and a chic staple to wear all summer long.

To change things up, consider wearing these slightly longer but tapered black shorts. You can pair it with a t-shirt or a collared shirt to dress up the look easily.

They’re white, distressed and even have a crochet pattern on the sides so they’ll stand out from the crowd of plain denim shorts. And no, there’s no wrong and right time to wear white.

I love the distressing and how they sit just on your hips perfectly. They’re the best shorts to wear on the weekend when you’re going out, and look super cute with a bodysuit ticked in and sandals.
