Beth Ditto, infinitely adorable rocker, roller, giver of LYFE just gave an interview with Elle to promote her technicolor finery (sizes 14-24,) the eponymous collection that she has at NO POINT called “plus-size.”
Anyhoo, we were pleased to see that the entire interview was about her art and her inspirations, even though one of the most fascinating topics is that she is definitely not your average “fashion girl.” In Elle, Ditto talked about how this scrappy visionista simply makes it work when designers only can give her a t-shirt to wear to the front row. She told them, “I’ve been this size my whole life,” Ditto says. “When I get invited to a fashion show, I’m still that little girl who has to get creative and make things work for my body. Like, they’ll send you a T-shirt and you have to make it look front-row ready. Luckily, I’ve been practicing for years.”
Until we have the runway-ready steeze for everyone we deserve, t-shirts are actually quite fantastic particularly when you wear them without pants, Beyonce, Rihanna, this Beth Ditto fan. Beth Ditto you are the living embodiment of what Tim Gunn was talking about when he said make it work except totally punk.
