Writer, educator, author, and ultimate speaker of truths Roxane Gay got real about the struggle to find fitted shirts suitable for a life baller last night.
In a series of tweets, she let out her frustrations about the lengths she has to go to just to get some tops for her hot dates and book tours. Apparently, she’s been taking some pages out of Ina Garten‘s “How to Run the White House, Fly Planes, and Whip Up a Baked Alaska in 20 Steps or Less” life handbook, and Gay has been getting all of her button-downs custom made to fit her chest.
She tweeted:
New shirts. I would wear one on a hot date because they are ???? pic.twitter.com/YlJ0KZ74O6

I take my guidance from @inagarten and have them custom made for my boobs. @Harlot_Blogger — roxane gay (@rgay) January 12, 2016
I honestly got tired of ill fitting shirts. I use this company where my mom lives. @Harlot_Blogger @inagarten

I walked into the store and said I know I am not your normal customer but I need shirts for book tour. @Harlot_Blogger @inagarten — roxane gay (@rgay) January 12, 2016
On the lack of options out their for women with some curves, Gay said:
An entrepreneur out there could make a fortune offering well made custom clothing for fat women.

It is shocking how under developed the plus size clothing arena is. So much money to be made. Smdh. — roxane gay (@rgay) January 12, 2016
While Ina might say, “How easy is that?” to buying good truffle cheese and getting a load of custom-made shirts, not everyone has the time or money for all that. Shocker.
When someone like Roxane Gay calls out your nonsense, it would be rude not to respond with some apology flowers and a plethora of cool clothing options. So, industry people, do us all a favor and give us some hot, fitted swanky shirts so we can get back to book tours and running the world. Thanks, bye.
